Take time out, be in the moment.

Learn how to handle clay, how it lends itself to self-expression, allowing oneself to leave behind the humdrum of daily life.

Share a relaxing, creative few days in the outstanding natural surroundings of the Livradois-Forez National Park. Not far from Thiers (the capital of knife-making) and 10 minutes away from the lake at Saint-Remy-sur-Durolle (swimming, boating, fishing..)...

And finally, after the impressive Raku firing session, going home with your creations.

 

For all the workshops there will be sleeping facilities in the main house and meals are shared – the aim being that everyone brings food to share. In short, we’re all together to enjoy a relaxed and sociable few days. Organised for 2-4 people per workshop.

The tarifs include tuition, materials, equipment, firing, lodging (with shared meals).

 

5-days Raku Workshop:

- 550€ per person for a group of 2

- 500€ per person for a group of 3 or 4

- Possibility of doing this workshop over 2 weekends at 480€ per person.

 

- Arrival the evening before

- Days 1,2,3:- modelling your pieces with my help and then an « étuvage » process on the 3rd day to speed up the drying

- Day 4:- initial firing resulting in the « biscuit » stage which is essential before glazing. This day is an opportunity to explain different techniques in working with clay (terra sigillata among others), also for you to go off on walks in the woods around the house. We’re at 1000m altitude with outstanding views over the region.

- Day 5:- Glazing and raku-firing followed by the cleaning process to achieve the true colours. The results to be fully admired before a brief analysis and feedback.

You’ll then be heading off home with your works of art and a good bunch of fine memories.

 

 

3-day initiation workshop to terra sigillata available at 110€ per person per day.
